About Amy

Amy was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. She entered the dance business in 1987, as a dance instructor for Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Lincoln, Nebraska. Amy competed as a professional within the franchise circuit winning a national title in International Latin and placing as a runner up in International Standard. She also danced competitively with students at these regional and national events, achieving numerous Top Teacher and Top Student awards.

Amy eventually became an independent instructor, but she continued to train professionally with top coaches such as Forrest Vance, Rufus Dustin, Shirley Ballas, Jim and Jenell Maranto, Enrique Ramon, Goran and Nicola Nordin and Victor Kanevsky.  Over the last twenty years Amy’s career has taken her to Des Moines, Dallas, Phoenix, Boston, and Kansas City, where she relocated to compete professionally with Rafael Labrado.  Amy is the founder of two programs reaching out to local youth to encourage involvement in social dance. She currently coaches Patrick Stone, a World Pro Am Latin Runner Up.

Amy is a respected and recognized member of the NDCA (National Dance Council of America) and the PDF (Professional Dancers Federation). She is a certified ballroom instructor and can instruct all levels, including American Rhythm, International Latin, American Smooth, International Standard, Theater Arts and West Coast Swing. Amy is able to adapt the lesson material to all levels of ballroom dancing from beginners to advanced competitors, whether you are a single or couple learning how to dance. Amy has students of all ages ranging from 9 yrs to 85 yrs old. Ballroom dancing has something to offer everyone!
